IRIS: Iris is a genus of between 200–300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species. A must have perennial, the iris tolerates wet, boggy areas and is very adaptable to a variety of soil types.
The Siberian Iris are an easy, trouble-free group, forming clumps of grassy foliage with a late spring display of butterfly-like flowers. Plants are sturdy and upright, and seldom troubled by Iris borer. This taller selection has unusual lavender-pink flowers with crimson flecks. Excellent at the waterside, or in a moist border. Also suitable for using in tubs and mixed containers. Siberian Iris are tolerant of wet sites, and will even grow in the shallow water at the edge of a pond or stream. Cut the dying foliage back in late fall. Easily divided in early fall, every 3 to 4 years. Hardy in zones 3-9. Height: 36 inches. Loves the sun.
